On the racing side, this a very tight, hard match, as are all Sandwell / Leicester meetings, Louis Bates was again the Lions top man, his two defeats came at the hands of Nowacki in the first heat and Howells in heat 17. At the interval the Monarchs held a one point lead, then right after break Leicester took a 7-2 win, when Sandwell’s David Ball was excluded, and in the following heat took another 7-3 to leave Sandwell fighting to make up lose ground, and with Leicester taking a 6-4 in the last heat, it left Sandwell with a 12 point defeat.

The combination match saw Leicester again take the points from a young Sandwell side, Matt Smith won four races, and had he not been excluded for moving at the tapes in his second ride, would surely have took maximum points.
Ricki Johnson and Scott Millward showed the form which everyone knows they are capable of, Ryan Guest and Dan Forbes find the going hard at the moment, but will in time join the ranks of Smith, Millward and Johnson.
Leicester took a two point lead in the first heat, and never lose it to win by 63 points to 66, thanks to some fine riding by Charlie Cooper who finished with 14 points.
